Overseas Chinese Professionals Share Experiences, Foster Pat

Eighteen professionals attended a gathering in Beijing on August 29 to talk about the sense of fulfillment brought by the development of their homeland and share their personal efforts to strengthen ties between China and their host nation abroad.
The event was held on the sidelines of the 10th , which opened in the capital the same day and concluded on September 1. Chinese President , Premier Li Keqiang, and other senior leaders joined with 3,000 people at the opening ceremony.
Attendees at the side gathering emphasized that they have always remained true to their mother country and actively promoted traditional culture and virtues amongst youngsters overseas, even though they are far away.
Lim Gait Tong, life honorary president of the Federation of Chinese Associations in Malaysia (Huazong), said the organization has come up with many targeted measures to attract the participation of more talented youths and women and further increase its popularity as well as influence amongst local people originating from China whilst boosting their recognition of China.
Liang Shun, an overseas Chinese and head of a Chinese association in Peru, explained that his organization founded a women-oriented sub-branch in November 2017 in a bid to deepen ties amongst children and help kids learn more about their original country.
For example, Liang, who has lived in Peru for nearly four decades, said the organization successfully led a group of children and their parents to visit their mother country earlier this year.
Meanwhile, overseas Chinese and self-organized associations in South Africa and Brazil have been active in running for public offices and in helping assist local orphans, impoverished families, schools and hospitals over the past years.
Their efforts have received high acclaim from local governments and the public, deepened friendship between Chinese and Brazilian people and accelerated the integration of overseas Chinese into local society.
In addition, many Chinese living abroad have done their utmost to make the voice and stories of China heard amid efforts to champion the Belt and Road initiative and to help more foreigners find inspiration from China's decade-long fast growth, according to Yin Chuping, honorary president of the Brazil Association for Peaceful Reunification of China.
Ren Limin, president of the Association of Chinese Residents in France, noted that thanks to the rise of China's influence on the international stage, young French-Chinese can look forward to a bright future and become friendly ambassadors to connect their mother country with France.
